Results for the ACA Longbow Championships

Weather on the day was good with plenty of sunshine apart from one storm that sent everybody running for shelter. The main shoot was well attended with several scores over 400 which is pretty good for a Longbow Western round.

The first three positions were Geoff, Ken and then Neil. For those who don't know, the longbow positions are calculated thus. For first place the most number of hits, for second, the highest score or the next highest if the archer with the most hits got the highest score as well and third the number of golds, ignoring the 1st and 2nd placed archers. Unlike more normal competitions.

The shoot was followed by the first outing of the ACA Wand target (4" wide by 6'0" high) shot at ever increasing distances as a knock out competition. Neil got knocked out at 20yards Bill Lyons at 25 leaving a shoot-out at 30 yards between Geoff and Alf which Alf won. Verbal support was provided to the last two archers whilst they were at full draw which surprisingly didn't seem to help!
